Gods Wisdom vs Women's "Wisdom" | An Introduction

1Co 1:19 KJV -

19 For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent.

The word "wisdom" occurs in 222 verses in the King James Bible. The word "wise" occurs 247 times. The books of Job (the oldest book written in the bible), Proverbs and 1st Corinthians refer to wisdom many times. The first occurrence of the word wise is in Genesis 3:6 which says, "And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat."

This desire to be wise, a desire to have wisdom, was not a desire to learn from God directly, but to be wise in their own eyes. Adam and Eve used to sit in the garden in the cool of the day, having a sort-of personal "Bible study" time with the Lord, learning directly from him. We don't know how long this went on for before the fall, but Eve was later deceived by Satan and then Adam was in the transgression when they both ate of the forbidden fruit. (You can read about all of this in Genesis chapter 3). Satan promised them wisdom. Satan is subtile and crafty, but only God is truly wise. Man has only limited knowledge and cannot even understand the deep things of God unless he is "in Christ" (having recognized his sin nature and then trusting in God to save him; Today in the dispensation of grace we are to recognize our sin nature and understand that we cannot save ourselves and then simply believe in Christ's death, burial and resurrection as atonement for our sins to have eternal life) and then he needs to study God's word rightly divided as a believer to grow in wisdom.

Jde 1:25 KJV -

25 To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen.

1Ti 1:17 KJV -

17 Now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, be honour and glory for ever and ever. Amen.

Whatever "wisdom" that this world offers is foolishness with God. 1Co 3:19 says, "For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, He taketh the wise in their own craftiness." God will also one day completely destroy the wisdom of this world, and in fact has already triumphed over it through the finished work of the cross. 1Co 1:19, "For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent."

Col 2:15

15And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.

In the world today there are many philosophies and other false doctrines that can tempt Christian women. They can be very subtle teachings, and sometimes we aren't fully aware that something we think, say, read or hear is actually in opposition to God's word rightly divided. That's why I'm doing this series, to help us to stop and think about the things that we might believe and the things that we might read or hear.

Col 2:8

8 Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.

There are other teachings that are more obviously opposed to God's word rightly divided, but they might still be attractive to our flesh and so we need to be more aware of how sneaky our own flesh can be in getting us to follow after man's wisdom instead of God's word rightly divided.

Rom 8:5 KJV -

5 For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.

Also, when we are following after and living according to man's wisdom, it means that we are walking after the flesh instead of in the Spirit. It means loss of rewards in heaven and that we are not allowing Christ to live in and through us. Every moment of every day we need to bring our thoughts to the obedience of Christ.

2Co 10:5 KJV -

5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;

Of course, because we still have our flesh and we have an adversary constantly trying to deceive us through his course for this world, we WILL at times walk after the flesh instead of in the Spirit. But, the more sound grace doctrine we get into our inner man, the more that we are "able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked." (Eph 6:16)

First, we need to understand that the adversary, Satan has

• A plan of evil

• A policy of evil

• A course for this world

Then, we also need to understand that as believers, our flesh has not changed. We are changed in our inner man in that we have God's Spirit living in our spirit and we have his word rightly divided to help us to mature spiritually (the mind of Christ) as we read, study and believe it. But our old fleshly, carnal nature still resides in our flesh until the rapture or when we die, whichever happens first.

Satan's plan of evil is to be like the most high God. Satan's five "I wills" are in Isaiah chapter 14 verses 12-14 which says, "How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!

13 For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north:

14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High."

Satan led an angelic rebellion in heaven and then later deceived Eve which led to Adam's transgression and Satan took dominion over both the 2nd heaven and the earth. But, the Lord Jesus Christ triumphed over Satan's evil plan through Christ's death, burial and resurrection reconciling both the heavens and the earth unto himself. This is being worked out today as God is forming the church the Body of Christ to fill the heavenly places and we will rule and reign in the heavenly places with Christ (God reconciling the heavens to himself), and after our rapture, God will also resume His program with Israel and eventually bring his prophecied Kingdom to the earth and believing Israel will rule and reign with Christ on the earth (reconciling the earth to himself). To learn more about this, please see my Bible study series on Rightly Dividing Basics.

Satan's policy of evil today is to preach FALSE GOSPELS and FALSE DOCTRINES to keep unbelievers from hearing a clear gospel message so that they would not be saved; and to keep believers from understanding the revelation of the mystery and grace living so that they do not mature spiritually through the word and thus allow Christ to live in and through them. The more people that are saved, and the more that the saved mature spiritually through the word, the quicker the rapture can occur. This is because we will fill up the governmental positions of power in God's heavenly government that were corrupted by Satan and his devils. God and the holy angels look forward to that time so that the heavenly places (positions of power in God's heavenly government) are filled with creatures who have Christ living in and through them, instead of being ruled by devils.

Satan's course for this world also includes an emphasis on man's wisdom and the doctrines of devils (his plan and policy of evil) but he also wants people to be as focused on their flesh as much as possible. Satan is the "god of this world" today, meaning that he has a course for this world and his spirit actually works in and through ALL unbelievers. Satan's evil plan is moving toward the coming anti-christ in the tribulation period after the church the Body of Christ is raptured out.

2Co 4:4 KJV -

4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.

2Th 2:7 KJVa

7 For the mystery of iniquity doth already work:

Jhn 8:44 KJV -

44 Ye [apostate Jews during Christ's earthly ministry] are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.

Ephesians 2:2-3

2 Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:

3 Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.

1Jo 2:16 KJV -

16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.

The ONLY WAY to combat Satan today is by being saved unto eternal life (thus, having Christ's Spirit in your spirit and having eternal life in him), then having God's word rightly divided built up in your inner man, as well as through prayer. It is GOD who causes us to triumph! He gets ALL of the glory.

Ephesians 6:10-18

10Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.

11Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

12For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

13Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

14Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;

15And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;

16Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.

17And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:

18Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;

2Co 2:14 KJV -

14 Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savour of his knowledge by us in every place.

As Christian women we are to have our minds renewed daily with God's word and we are NOT to be conformed to this world.

Rom 12:2 KJV -

2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

Next week we will start diving into some of the "women's wisdom" that is in the world today that even many Christian women are deceived by that is in opposition to God's word rightly divided.
