Why do So many NOT rightly divide the scriptures?

If God's will is for us to rightly divide the scriptures, and its clearly stated in 2 Timothy 2:15 in the KJB for us to do so, then why do so many NOT rightly divide?

• Modern Translations

One reason very simply is because the modern Bible versions change the meaning of 2 Timothy 2:15. Many versions say that we are to "rightly handle" the scriptures. Although that's certainly true, that's NOT the full truth of what Paul was saying. God is commanding us in 2 Tim 2:15 to rightly DIVIDE the scriptures, which means to cut straight. You have to divide the scriptures properly if you want to be understanding God's will for us today.

2 Cor 2:17

17For we are not as many, which corrupt the word of God: [many people corrupt God's word with modern Bible versions, adding to and subtracting from God's word, claiming to have "new revelations", not rightly dividing the scriptures, etc] but as of sincerity, but as of God, in the sight of God speak we in Christ.

2 Tim 2:15

Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

• Satan's policy of evil against us

Satan has a policy of evil against us, which is to 1) keep unbelievers from hearing and believing a clear gospel message 2) keep believers from reading, studying, believing and obeying God's word rightly divided. He has "ministers of righteousness" preaching all kinds of false gospels out there. Some are very obvious and some are much more subtle. It would take a whole other Bible study series to expand on this issue even more.

2 Corinthians 4:3-4

3But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost:

4In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.

• Ignorance

Another reason is plain old ignorance. They have not yet seen it themselves in scripture and/or have never been taught it in their churches. I have read of several people who were preachers for many years, almost their whole life and then they suddenly saw the importance of rightly dividing, and realized that they had spent years teaching most things from scripture incorrectly! Its very sad but if they taught anything correctly at all they will be rewarded for that in heaven so hopefully they had previously gotten some things right! We all need to take bible study very seriously and teaching it even more seriously. It's OK to think outside of your denominational box! In fact, we need to put God's word above man's wisdom, religion and traditions.

1 Corinthians 2:5

That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.

• Pride

Sadly some people, including preachers, HAVE seen the importance of rightly dividing but simply refuse to do it or to teach it. One reason can be pride. They don't want admit that they or their particular denomination, church or group is wrong. They might also refuse to even consider rightly divided bible study for this same reason. They put man's wisdom above God's word.

Galatians 6:3 - For if a man think himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceiveth himself.

Romans 12:16 - Be of the same mind one toward another. Mind not high things, but condescend to men of low estate. Be not wise in your own conceits.

• Wanting to Fit In

Along with pride of not wanting to be wrong is that they want to keep fitting in with their particular group or denomination. Maybe even their whole family, or spouse, would be upset with them if they started to rightly divide the scriptures instead of following after religion. The flesh wants to fit in! It does not like being awkward or different in this world.

2 Timothy 4:10

For Demas hath forsaken me, having loved this present world, and is departed unto Thessalonica; Crescens to Galatia, Titus unto Dalmatia.

• Money

You won't be popular as a rightly dividing grace believer. Thus, some preachers will reject it because it will mean less donations/tithing and sales of their products; as well as less people in the church and less popularity. But also, the average believer might not like rightly divided bible study because many prefer to believe in the false health and wealth prosperity gospel.

Philippians 3:18-19

18(For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ:

19Whose end is destruction, whose God is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who mind earthly things.)

• The flesh wars against our spirit

Another reason why so many don't rightly divide the scriptures is pure laziness. The flesh just doesn't want to take the time to study the Bible. It especially doesn't want you to study for yourself or to study God's word rightly divided. It would prefer to spend hours daily watch streaming services, scrolling social media, reading fiction, playing video games, going out shopping, talking on the phone, sending text messages, etc. If the person does study the Bible, the flesh prefers if you just read simple devotionals or commentaries, read a Christian book, or watch or attend a popular sermon instead of doing rightly divided bible study on your own for yourself, allowing the Holy Ghost to teach you as you study. It doesn't want you to actually study for yourself!

The flesh also thinks that it can do better things for you than God's Spirit and His word can do working in and through you. It wars against your spirit. It will tell you just to think positively, and that you don't need the Bible; or that you should study psychology or some popular philosophy instead of God's word. It will convince you that you need religious works like praying a rosary instead of studying God's Word rightly divided. Or it will be sneaky and say that you can't trust God to teach you Himself through the word rightly divided in a King James Bible, but that rather you need to attend a seminary school or become a theologian or an apologist as that's the ONLY way to learn the scriptures and the flesh gets all puffed up in itself for its religious accomplishments! Sneaky!

Galatians 5:17

17For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.

• Fear

Sometimes people begin to study God's word rightly divided but then once they begin to experience persecution and suffering, they give up in fear! Many people have rejected or stopped rightly divided bible study because of fear of persecution and suffering.

2 Timothy 1:7 - For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

• A Negative Experience

Sadly they might also come across some right dividers who don't have a lot of grace towards others, and so they are put off by them and reject rightly divided bible study as a result. Right dividers who don't allow Christ to live in and through them have head knowledge but aren't meditating over the verses to allow Christ and His word to live in and through them (which is Grace Living). This is common all throughout Christendom and right dividers can be just as bad. This is why it's important to understand grace living and not just rightly dividing. That's why I have this channel, to teach both, and they do go hand in hand.

1 Corinthians 8:1

Now as touching things offered unto idols, we know that we all have knowledge. Knowledge puffeth up, but charity edifieth.

Col 3:16

16Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.

Some advice for those who rightly divide, when facing other believers who do NOT rightly divide or might even oppose you for it:

• Don't be baited by arguments and debates

One reason why I don't have comments on my YouTube channel, and I'm rarely ever on social media is because I do not argue or debate with others. Either with unbelievers, ignorant brethren or even with fellow right dividers. I'm OK with doctrinal correction from fellow rightly dividing grace believers who approach me privately in a polite way, but otherwise I don't spend my time arguing and debating with others online or in person. It's usually not helpful or edifying and often leads to "biting and devouring one another." I recommend also not just going around all over the internet picking arguments and debates with non-right dividers or anyone else either. It is not a spiritually mature thing to do. Instead, find ways to teach the word of God for yourself instead of going on other people's posts, channels or websites and starting an argument. We should be bold in our preaching but also have grace.

Titus 3:9 - But avoid foolish questions, and genealogies, and contentions, and strivings about the law; for they are unprofitable and vain.

Romans 14:1 - Him that is weak in the faith receive ye, but not to doubtful disputations.

Galatians 5:15

But if ye bite and devour one another, take heed that ye be not consumed one of another.

• Don't worry what others think

If people make fun of you, reject you or even hate you for being a rightly dividing, bible believing, grace believer then so be it. Don't worry what they think! What matters most of all is what God thinks of you and He loves you. You are accepted in the beloved. Keep the judgment seat of Christ in mind as well, stay heavenly minded, rejoice in the Lord alway, pray without ceasing and be thankful in all things. Allow Christ to live in and through you, do your best to live peaceably with all men, and don't worry. Pray for them instead.

Ephesians 1:6

“To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.”

• We are NOT to force people to believe

Please keep in mind that we cannot force or trick people into believing the gospel, or rightly divided bible study. Once we have shared the gospel at least once or twice, we have planted a seed. They can at least think it over and consider it. As for sharing right division with fellow believers, we need to have the same approach. Paul said that if you share right division with others and they reject it twice, that we need to just walk away at that point. We can keep the door open in case they later on decide that they'd like to learn more, but otherwise we are not to try to force them to believe.

Titus 3:10

10A man that is an heretick [anyone who doesn't rightly divide the scriptures] after the first and second admonition reject;

If someone is very contentious about the gospel, walk away right away. I've had a few experiences where the person became very contentious just by me merely saying the name of Jesus and so I walked away. I have not brought it up with them again since that time. It's very sad and difficult but the reality is that some people can even get violent if we push the issue even just a little bit.

As believers we are to live by grace through faith including how we share the gospel and right division with others.
