The Source of all False Teachings:

Question God's word

Change Gods word

Put mans ideas above God

Let's talk about the source of all false teachings. I'm going to go over some Bible verses to help explain this. *In the parentheses is my personal commentary.

By the way, I'm going to be talking about Satan. Newagers do not believe that Satan exists or they believe false teachings about him. Satan is a real creature. He is a fallen Cherubim that deceives the whole world. He is God's adversary. The Lord Jesus Christ defeated Satan at the cross, and God is currently working out His plan to reconcile both heaven and earth unto himself. People have freewill choice to either believe the gospel of their salvation and then to serve God by walking in the Spirit, or they can follow after Satan, choose to never believe the gospel and spend eternity in the lake of fire.

Questioning God's Word and Changing God's Word:

In the garden of eden, Satan deceived Eve by first causing her to question God's word. This is the beginning of false teachings. But, even more, Eve also added to God's word. She may not have been properly taught God's word by her husband, which led to being more open to deception. Making changes to God's word (as all modern Bible translations do) is also another source of false teachings. *in the parentheses below is my personal commentary.

Genesis 3:1-8 KJB

3 Now the serpent [Satan] was more subtil [tricky! Sly and crafty] than any beast of the field [Satan is referred to as a serpent and as a beast because it's referring to Satan’s fallen, spiritual condition. He's also more tricky than the other fallen angels who are also "beasts" who followed after Satan.] which the Lord God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden? [Satan is trying to cause Eve to question God's word. Satan doesn't want anyone to believe God and His word!]

2 And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden:

3 But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, [Eve adds to Gods word here. The Bible later says that Eve was deceived so perhaps part of the reason why she was deceived was because she didn't have a clear understanding of God's commandment to begin with - Adam was supposed to teach her. The commandment was originally given to Adam and He was to teach it to his wife. Its dangerous to add to or take away from God's word. God never said that they could not touch it, but only that they were not to eat it: Gen 2: 16 And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: 17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.] lest ye die.

4 And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: [Satan is blatantly telling a lie here and further causing Eve to not believe God and His word]

5 For God doth know [Satan trying to make God look like the bad guy; newagers also do this by trying to paint the God of the Bible as evil and they worship a false God of their own imaginings] that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil. [Now He's tempting Eve into believing that her and Adam could be like gods. God wants for man to have eternal life in Him, but what they are desiring here isn't God's plan, but rather Satan's lie that they can have whatever they want without God, right here and now, and that they have no need for God. Newagers teach a similar thing, that you "are" a God and that you don't need God to save you and that you don't need God for anything else! They are also all about instant gratification. They also teach false ideas about who God is and about His word]

6 And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food [lust of the flesh], and that it was pleasant to the eyes [lust of the eyes], and a tree to be desired to make one wise [pride of life. 1 John 2:16 KJB "For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world." New age books, products and home decor all look beautiful. Even the way newagers dress is often in bright, beautiful rainbow colors. Newage metaphysical shops have bright beautiful decor, paintings of "angels" and fairies, windchimes, crystals, candles, good smelling oils, soft lighting, plants, peaceful sounding music and sometimes even water fountains that draw people in through seduction. All of these things are very pleasing to the flesh. It's really through seduction, a type of hypnotizism and charm that people get drawn into the teachings.], she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat [Adam knew it was a sin, and he willingly sinned to please his wife instead of obeying God, but Eve had been deceived. 1 Timothy 2:14 "And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression." ; Romans 5:12 "Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:"].

(New age shops and products look appealing to the flesh)

7 And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked [shame]; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons. [trying to make things right by their own efforts! This self-effort to try to save yourself is called man-made religion]

8 And they heard the voice of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day [God walking in the garden was the Lord Jesus Christ who is the image of the invisible God - see Col 1:15 KJB]: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God amongst the trees of the garden. [Because of sin, they lost fellowship with God, died spiritually, and now they also had guilt, fear and shame. The sin nature would then be passed down through all of the generations through the man, Adam. This is why Jesus is born of a virgin woman. Jesus was born in a human body but did not have the sin nature. All people today are either "in Adam" (spiritually lost) or "in Christ" (saved by Gods grace)].

Satan alone cannot be blamed for false teachings. Man in rebelliousness to God creates his own religion. "Man-made religion" is mans attempt to be righteous on his own without God.

Man-made Religion (Man placing his own ideas above God and His word rightly divided)

Genesis 4: 1-10 KJB

1 And Adam knew Eve his wife; and she conceived, and bare Cain, and said, I have gotten a man from the Lord. [Eve was hoping that Cain would be the coming redeemer as prophesied in Gen 3:15 KJB; But the redeemer would have to be God himself, God the Son, and would be born of a virgin, but Eve did not have this understanding yet as it had not yet been fully revealed through Gods word]

2 And she again bare his brother Abel. And Abel was a keeper of sheep, but Cain was a tiller of the ground.

3 And in process of time it came to pass, that Cain brought of the fruit of the ground an offering unto the Lord.

4 And Abel, he also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof. And the Lord had respect unto Abel and to his offering: [If you notice, Abel brings an offering that God respected. More than likely, Cain and Abel understood what kind of offering was acceptable to God]

5 But unto Cain and to his offering he had not respect. And Cain was very wroth, and his countenance fell. [Cain had decided to bring an offering of his own choosing, and do things his own way, rather than doing things God's way. This is religious works of the flesh, not works of faith. Newage religion is all about making up your own God of your own making, which really means that they make themselves to be their own God's. They come up with their own philosophies and "spiritual" practices and want NOTHING to do with the God of the Bible. Cain then gets angry and upset that God doesn't like his offering and becomes jealous that Abel had obeyed God and that God was pleased with Abels works of faith. Not only did Abel obey God but he had to have believed God first (we have to have faith first) regarding what kind of offering would be acceptable.]

6 And the Lord said unto Cain, Why art thou wroth? and why is thy countenance fallen?

7 If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted? and if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door [God is warning Cain that he's moving in the wrong direction]. And unto thee shall be his desire, and thou shalt rule over him.

8 And Cain talked with Abel his brother: and it came to pass, when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother, and slew him. [The first instance of a self-righteous, religious person killing a believer!]

9 And the Lord said unto Cain, Where is Abel thy brother? And he said, I know not: Am I my brother's keeper? [He didn't even seem to care what he had done! He didn't feel sorry and he has the nerve to even lie to God!]

10 And he said, What hast thou done? the voice of thy brother's blood crieth unto me from the ground.

The result of false teachings (including Satan's deceptions, man's religion and mans rebelliousness) eventually results in utter chaos and misery such as in the days of Noah, the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah and the coming tribulation.
