A Christian Homemakers Priceless Value | Biblical Womanhood and Homemaking

A Christian Homemakers Value

Proverbs 31:10 in the KJB says, "Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies."

Christian women, who choose to exalt and believe God and His word, are so incredibly valuable to God. They are also actually very rare. This is why Proverbs 31 asks the question, "Who can FIND a virtuous woman?"

Ephesians 2:1-9 in the KJB says,

1 And you hath he quickened, [made spiritually alive for Gods purpose] who were dead in trespasses and sins; [all unbelievers are spiritually dead in their trespasses and sins]

2 Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, [Satan has a course for this world; his plan of evil is to be worshipped like God and his policy of evil is to keep unbelievers from hearing a clear gospel message and to keep believers ignorant of sound grace doctrine rightly divided]

according to the prince of the power of the air, [Satan, who is also called the "god of this world" had corrupted both the heavenly places and the earth with his plan of evil. Job 15:15 says, "yea, the heavens are not clean in his sight.") the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience: [Satan's spirit works in and through all unbelievers; believers who do not rightly divide the scriptures and who choose to live ungodly are also actually in alignment with Satan's course for this world because they walk according to the course of this present evil world instead of walking in the Spirit]

3 Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others. [ALL believers at one time or another walked according to Satan’s course for this world]

4 But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,

Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) [Christ died for the ungodly!]

6 And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus: [not only are we saved by grace through simple faith in Christ's death, burial and resurrection as atonement for our sins, but we are even SEATED with Christ in the Heavenly places forever! Incredible!]

7 That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.

8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.

All unbelievers are following after Satan's course for this world. As grace believers, and also as homemakers, we will experience persecution of all kinds from unbelievers but also from religious people.

Now, certainly, a virtuous woman doesn't actually mean a sinless woman. As believers, we still have a carnal, fleshly body (until the rapture or if we die first) and our flesh wars against our spirit and is very deceitful (which is one reason why we need to keep our minds renewed daily with God's word). But our incredible value in God's eyes is because we simply believed the Gospel of the grace of God and thus we have Christ's righteousness imputed to us, and then as believers when we choose to live godly as opposed to just following after the lusts of our flesh, we are earning rewards for heaven. As we make God and His word priority, Christ can live in and through us as believers. This is what makes our value "far above rubies".

At one time in our culture, women who were "discreet, chaste and keepers at home" were considered to be of great value and were more honored by society. The culture at that time had a better understanding of scripture, and today you will be hard-pressed to find people even in western society that know anything from the Bible at all - many don't even know some very basic things! Then, when women wanted the freedom to work outside of the home, instead of continuing to also support women that chose to be homemakers, society turned on the homemaker over time. Now, women who dress and behave immodestly, are loud and obnoxious, use foul language, and are focused entirely on money, their careers and other worldly ambitions are of great value and honored in western society. What a shame.

However, it simply doesn't matter, in the grand scheme of things, what the unbelieving world thinks. They are at enmity with God and so they hate the things of God. They won't see the value in godly living unless they get saved and come unto the knowledge of the truth (which is why we must continue to evangelize even to our own neighbors and other people around us). All they can think about are "the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes and the pride of life". We want for them to be saved and to come unto the knowledge of the truth, but that won't happen by us caving into their ungodly lifestyles and agendas. When we do that, we are just pleasing their flesh and not being helpful to their souls. At the same time however they seem to love to argue and debate with believers and try to call us hypocrites if we make any kind of mistakes in our own lives. They don't realize that we are sharing the Gospel with them primarily to save their souls (if they choose to believe it) and not just to change their lifestyles. Their opinions only last a short while, but God's opinion is what truly matters. If they continue to reject God and His word it is to their own demise.

"For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever." 1 John 2:15-17

But even on a more practical level, being a homemaker can actually be more economical (and all those who talk about "green living", being a homemaker might be better for the environment as you are using less fossil fuels, you can start your own garden, etc). You can save money on daycare costs, gas, eating out a lot, etc. If you really needed to, you can downgrade your lifestyle to a smaller home and one vehicle, less expensive vacations and buying more thrifty items as well as keeping a grocery budget. You can read online blogs by homemakers who offer helpful suggestions for keeping a budget. I'm always learning about this myself. One of my favorites is "The Legacy of Home" with Mrs. White. https://thelegacyofhome.blogspot.com/?m=1

It is often less stressful if you also adopt a "slow-living" type of homemaking lifestyle as well. It's also safer for your family. I really love to see a little bit of a resurgence in women becoming homemakers and adopting a slower paced lifestyle and even homeschooling their children. I like the slow-living, traditional homemaker and cottage style trends. This is so much healthier for women and their families than the fast paced career woman lifestyle (though I do understand that in some cases the wife and mother has to work outside of the home). You are able to keep watch on your own children, instead of giving them over to strangers all day and you can help gaurd their minds more from false teachings, bad morals and ungodly agendas.

Many women today are "laden with sins" (2 Tim 3:6). This means that there is so much sin in their life, its like a heavy burden on their souls (I can't imagine what it will be like for some of the famous pop singers and movie actresses who are not saved at the great white throne judgement! Imagine all of the people that they have seduced! Some of them also teach false doctrines and new-age philosophy and false religious teachers will get the worst parts of hell!). They are also "led away with divers lusts,”. This can include Christian women who walk after the flesh more of the time instead of walking in the spirit. They are following after Satan's course for this world. For believers this will lead to loss of rewards at the believers judgment seat of Christ and can sometimes ruin your testimony while here on earth. For unbelievers it means that they are just adding more punishment for themselves in the lake of fire (Romans 2:5, "But after thy hardness and impenitent heart treasurest up unto thyself wrath against the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God;”).

As believers we need to put off the old man and walk in newness of life. This might include deciding that being a homemaker is the most helpful, useful and edifying thing to do in your situation. We have to be mature, adult saints and decide for our families what is best based upon our understanding of God's word rightly divided.

If you decide, as a Christian woman, that you need to work outside of the home, it should be based upon your own understanding of scripture, as well as your families needs (needs are different from mere wants). As believers we have liberty to decide for ourselves. But please do so based upon God's word rightly divided, not based upon someone else's opinions or based upon current cultural standards.

If you feel that as a Christian homemaker, you don't have any value, please know that you do. Your value is really in who you are in Christ, and by obeying God's word rightly divided, you are allowing Christ to live in and through you in the details of your life. Then, as a believer, please know that your godly living will be rewarded one day in heaven!

Colossians 3:1-4

If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.

2 Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.

3 For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.

4 When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory.

Col 3:17

And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.
